5 things to do before the end of 2017

Can anyone say inconsistent?

Things have changed a lot around here and I really should have a lot to write about. Infact, I do have a lot to write about. But I don’t have time. Time is my biggest nemesis. I’m always prioritising. This prioritisation has let my writing slip significantly. But, I’m happy I still have the ability to write and this platform is still here when I can.

Recently I watched a Youtube video on it being the last month of the year and a list of things that one should do before the year runs out and I thought WOW. I need to write my own rendition of this. So here goes:

LollyBees 5 things to do before the end of 2017

Make plans to see someone you haven’t seen all year.

Christmas is a beautiful time to spend time with loved ones. Sometimes the year goes by and communication with our nearest & dearest has been via whatsapp, text and short conversations.

Make concrete plans to meet up with someone, it would be lovely to have that meeting this year, but if it has to be in January, then let it be. Don’t try to plan too far in the future because a lot of the time that doesn’t work and your priorities closer to the time change. Make siple plans for within the next 4 weeks. Trust me you will not regret it

          Do something charitable

At this time of the year, where people look forward to spending time with the ones they love, staying indoors with a hot chocolate and all together being merry – think about those that are alone, cold and are potentially unhappy. Doing something charitable doesn’t have to be large or loud. It could be as simple as asking an elderly or vulnerable neighbour about their holiday plans. You cold help with wrapping their presents or picking up some groceries for them when you are out. You could provide blankets to a local charity – you’ll be surprised how many people are sleeping rough in the cold. Invite someone you know will be spending Christmas alone to spend some time with you. Alternatively, you could give money to charity, food to food banks or just be a listening ear.

Charity is so easy and is sometimes not as far from home as we think.

Start one of those new years resolutions early

Why are you waiting? Why are you procrastinating? Start whatever it is now. Get a head start. Or if you really cant, use the rest of this month to plan exactly how you are going to start.

        Do a clear out

It’s the end of the year, and even you will be surprised by the number of things you haven’t touched in the last year. It could be an item of clothing, a random jar in the cupboard, last year’s Xmas gifts even. Pick an area and clear it out. A top that you haven’t work all year, what’s the likelihood of you wearing it going forward…. realistically? Give it away

List all the things you are grateful for

Lastly, but probably the most important. At this time of the year, many people think about the things they haven’t managed to achieve in 2017. Haven’t lost as much weight as I intended to. Haven’t done that professional course that you had planned to do. Still biting your nails. There are always a host of things we plan to do, but don’t get round to.

Although I am down with reflection,  it should definitely be a time for reflection, but how about we spend the last few days of 2017 being thankful. Thankful for health, thankful for family, thankful for progression & growth… There is so much to be grateful for. I am definitely going to be sharing my list of things to be grateful for.

And that’s it from me today. Make the rest of the year count.
